Title IX
Title IX, passed in 1972, required equity in educational programs for both boys and girls.
Title IX ensures that both genders have equal opportunities as well as funding. In high school sports this means that there can't be more teams for males than females. Consequently, this leads to some male sports being cancelled, but it ensures that schools can't drop female teams because they're not as popular. |
